Join us on a guided tour of Røros where you will learn more about the history of this charming wooden town!
When Røros Copper Works built the first smelter in 1646, people came to obtain work and settle with their own farms. Røros emerged as a collection of courtyard farms placed closely together. The mining town has preserved much of its original character with the same town plan which was laid out in the 1600s. Its wellpreserved wooden buildings from the 1700s and 1800s were the basis for inscription on Unesco’s World Heritage list in 1980.
